Cases have been filed regarding the clashes, and a total of 13 individuals from both communities have been arrested so far. A senior police official overseeing law and order confirmed to PTI that more arrests are expected.

He said that prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, which bans gatherings of more than five people, were imposed to maintain control since last night.

He mentioned that a peace committee meeting was conducted.

According to police, the issue started when a group of cow protectors alleged that cattle were being taken to a Madrassa in Medak. When police reached the location, they found the cattle, including oxen, deemed unsuitable for slaughter, and transferred them to an animal shelter.

Later, the police moved the group away from the area.

Afterward, the group went to the outskirts of Medak upon hearing about alleged cow transportation, leading to a physical clash with another community.

Following this, the group protested near a police station in Medak.

Responding to the incident, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao posted on ‘X’: “Telangana has been peaceful for the last 9.5 years under KCR Garu’s leadership. Now, under the Congress Government, there is neither law nor order. It’s truly shameful that even the peaceful town of Medak, which had no history of communal issues before, is now in chaos.”

Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh wrote on ‘X’: “When cow protectors and BJP volunteers in Telangana stopped anti-social elements from transporting cows for slaughter in Medak, they were attacked with knives. I visited the injured at the hospital, checked on their condition, and urged the police to swiftly take action against the attackers.”
