Vishwak Sen’s latest movie, Gangs of Godavari, a rural action-packed drama, had a positive start on Friday, despite not-so-great reviews and average word of mouth.

Directed by Krishna Chaitanya, the film had a strong opening day, earning around 8.2 Crores Gross. This is impressive, especially for a low-budget film, and it even outperformed other releases like Gam Gam Ganesha and Bhaje Vaayu Vegam.

The movie did particularly well in Nizam and Ceeded regions, earning 1.10 Crores and 76 Lakhs shares respectively. While it did decently in other areas too, it didn’t reach expectations.

Gangs of Godavari had generated excitement with its teasers, trailers, and hit songs. The promotional efforts also contributed to the buzz around the film.

However, despite falling short of expectations and receiving lower ratings due to its storytelling, the movie managed to recover 40 percent of its investment, especially with good turnout in evening shows.

Since the other releases also had mixed ratings, Gangs of Godavari has a good chance to overcome the negative reviews and perform well over the weekend. If it can maintain good turnout, it could emerge as a box office success.
