While we wait for 5:30 PM, let’s take a look back at what the top exit poll agencies predicted in 2019 and how it compared to the actual results.
In the 2019 AP assembly exit polls, India Today projected 37-40 seats for TDP and 130-135 seats for YCP. INSS Media predicted 118 seats for TDP and 52 seats for YCP. People’s Pulse foresaw 59 seats for TDP and 112 seats for YCP. CPS projected 37-40 seats for TDP and 133-135 seats for YCP.
For parliamentary projection, Times Now – VMR anticipated 18 seats for YCP and 7 seats for TDP, while India Today Axis forecasted 18-20 seats for YCP and 2-6 seats for TDP. CNN News 18 predicted 13-14 seats for YCP and 10-12 seats for TDP. Today’s Chanakya was quite off the mark, with 8 seats for YCP and 17 seats for TDP. Republic-C Voter estimated 11 seats for YCP and 14 seats for TDP.
However, the actual outcome was quite different. YSR Congress won 151 assembly seats and 22 MP seats, a huge victory that no exit poll could accurately predict. TDP secured only 23 MLA seats and 3 MP seats, while JSP won just one MLA seat. Now, we await the 2024 exit polls, just hours away.
