Andhra Pradesh Assembly to Convene on June 17: Will Jagan Follow KCR’s Lead?

User Newsinnews

After suffering a significant defeat in the recent Telangana election, two-time CM KCR has adopted a new strategy of avoiding assembly sessions altogether. He hasn’t attended a single one in Telangana since. Political experts suggest KCR might be avoiding the assembly because his rival, Revanth Reddy, is now the CM.

A similar situation is unfolding in Andhra Pradesh. Outgoing Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy lost power in this year’s election, and his party, YSR Congress, now holds only 11 MLA seats in the assembly.

With the new CM Chandrababu set to take office on June 12, the formation of the cabinet will soon follow. Then, the new AP assembly session is scheduled to begin on June 17th.

Previously attending the assembly as the CM with 151 MLAs supporting him, Jagan will now enter with just 11 MLAs and without the status of opposition leader. Ironically, in the past, Jagan had remarked that Chandrababu sat in the assembly at his mercy. But now, Jagan finds himself in a similar position, attending the assembly as a mere MLA.

Will Jagan rise above this situation, where his party is smaller than Janasena in the AP assembly, and attend the session on June 17th to take the oath as an MLA? Or will he follow KCR’s lead and skip the assembly session? We’ll find out next Monday.
