In Tollywood, setting release dates well in advance doesn’t always ensure a smooth launch, especially for medium-range stars. We’ve seen this happen many times before. Last year, the sudden change in Salaar’s release date caused chaos in the Telugu film industry’s scheduling. Now, it seems history might repeat itself in December 2024.
Initially, Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel and Nithin’s Robinhood were set to hit theaters on December 20. Both films promise unique experiences for audiences and could do well if they impress with their content. However, the entry of Pushpa into the mix could complicate matters at the box office.
Recent updates suggest that Pushpa 2: The Rule, originally planned for an August release, might now target a Christmas release, following the pattern of its predecessor. This potential change could significantly impact the December lineup.
Since Thandel is produced by Geetha Arts, they might consider moving its release to make way for Pushpa. On the other hand, Robinhood is backed by Mythri Movie Makers, the producers of Pushpa, so they could also adjust the film’s date accordingly.
There’s also talk in the industry about Dil Raju possibly scheduling Ram Charan’s Gamechanger for December. If this happens, both Pushpa 2 and Gamechanger could end up releasing at the same time, crowding the market and creating a bottleneck.
The ongoing saga of rescheduling highlights the competitive and unpredictable nature of film releases in Tollywood. All we can do now is wait for the official announcements regarding the release dates.
