Political circles in Andhra Pradesh are abuzz with discussions centered around the controversial Rushikonda Palace, commissioned by former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. The primary focus is on the alleged misuse of over Rs 500 crore in public funds for constructing this extravagant building.
Locals, particularly those in the Rushikonda area, have strongly opposed the construction of the palace. Polling trends from Rushikonda, which falls under the Bheemili assembly constituency, highlight widespread disapproval among the residents towards Jagan’s project.
Rushikonda is part of the 8th ward in Bheemili, where TDP candidate Ganta Srinivas Rao secured a substantial victory with a margin of 7,200 votes. This significantly contributed to Ganta’s overall victory in Bheemili, where he secured a record-breaking majority of 92,000 votes. This marks a considerable increase from his 2014 victory margin of 37,000 votes, suggesting a significant shift in voter sentiment possibly influenced by the controversy surrounding the Rushikonda Palace.
Political observers speculate that the construction of the Rushikonda Palace could have played a decisive role in shaping voter opinions and contributing to the electoral outcomes in Bheemili.
