After a decisive loss in the 2024 AP assembly elections, former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is stepping out of his Tadepalli residence for the first time to tour Pulivendula tomorrow.
Upon his return, Jagan is set to convene a significant meeting with his party’s MLAs and MPs on June 22nd. The agenda will focus on strategizing for the upcoming assembly and parliament sessions.
These discussions are crucial as the Andhra Pradesh assembly sessions are scheduled to begin on June 24th, spanning three days until June 27th.
The pressing question now is whether Jagan Mohan Reddy will attend the opening assembly session. It’s a challenging prospect for a leader who served as CM for five years to now participate without even holding opposition leader status.
Adding to the complexity, Jagan has raised concerns about potential issues with the EVM system, hinting at suspicions of foul play in the recent election.
Analysts suggest that facing defeat and returning to the assembly where his party, YCP, previously dominated TDP’s 23 MLAs and especially Chandrababu for five years could prove emotionally difficult for Jagan.
However, abstaining from the assembly might suggest he’s not acknowledging the public’s decision, potentially harming his image further.
More clarity on Jagan’s decision is expected after the June 22nd meeting with his party members. Will Jagan be mentally prepared to face the challenge of returning to the assembly, now with only 11 MLAs and lacking opposition party status, after leading with 151 MLAs for half a decade? We’ll find out soon.
