Former MLA and YSRCP leader Roja Selvamani, who previously served as the tourism minister in YS Jagan’s government, faced criticism from TDP and Janasena supporters after losing the recent Nagari elections by 45,000 votes. This backlash stemmed from her previous outspoken remarks against Pawan Kalyan and Chandra Babu Naidu during her tenure.
With the new government in power, investigations into alleged irregularities from the previous administration are underway. Roja is now under scrutiny by the CID for allegedly misappropriating 100 Crores intended for sports events such as ‘Aadudam Andhra’ and ‘CM Cup’ that were initiated during her tenure as tourism minister.
Recent reports indicate that a complaint has been filed against Roja and former SAAP chairman Byreddy Siddharth Reddy by RD Prasad, CEO of the Aatya Patya association. The complaint accuses them of financial irregularities, including mismanagement of funds and improper allocation of education seats under sports quotas. The complainants have urged the CID to seize relevant records and conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
Roja has also faced accusations in the past regarding the sale of TTD tickets under the minister’s quota during her tenure in the tourism ministry. Allegations suggest she profited from the sale of special darshan tickets at Tirumala, a practice that drew criticism from opposition parties and raised ethical concerns.
