A recent Bollywood movie called Crew, which is set in the aviation industry, has become popular. The movie features Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon and tells the story of three air hostesses who start smuggling gold when their employers stop paying their salaries for more than six months.
Crew did well in cinemas and is now available on Netflix. The movie was inspired by real-life incidents, including smuggling cases and the Vijay Mallya Kingfisher Airlines case. Recently, an air hostess from Kolkata was caught smuggling gold, reminding people of the movie.
Surabhi Khatun, a 26-year-old air hostess from Kolkata, was arrested after 960 grams of gold were found hidden in her private parts. Another senior crew member named Sohail, from Kannur in Kerala, was also arrested.
The arrests were made by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Thiruvananthapuram. The DRI suspects that there might be a larger smuggling operation involving more Air India crew members, and the investigation is ongoing.
