The previous YSR Congress government introduced a tax called “Cheththa Pannu” (garbage collection tax), which required households to pay for garbage collection services that were previously free.

This tax ranged from Rs 30 to Rs 150, depending on the area, with the government aiming to collect around Rs 200 crore annually.

However, as one of their first actions, the new Telugu Desam government, led by Chandrababu Naidu, has instructed municipalities to stop collecting this tax from the public.

A gazette order was issued across Andhra Pradesh to immediately halt the collection of garbage tax. This move fulfills a promise made by both Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan before the election, and they wasted no time in implementing it.

Chandrababu, known for his people-friendly governance, has started his term by removing this “Garbage Tax.”
