Under the previous YSR Congress government, Andhra Pradesh faced criticism for attracting few investments in the past five years. Many companies, including Amar Raja and Lulu, encountered difficulties and left the state due to bureaucratic hurdles.
Now, with the new TDP-led government taking charge in Andhra Pradesh, there’s a noticeable shift. The government is actively pursuing investments and has extended an invitation to Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter and Tesla, who is planning to visit India later this year. Minister of Industries, TG Bharat, has invited Musk to explore investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, particularly related to Tesla’s electric car manufacturing plans.
Bharat reached out to Musk, saying he knows Musk plans to visit India and considers making significant investments here. He urged Musk to consider Andhra Pradesh for his ventures, highlighting their dynamic leader Chandrababu Garu’s visionary governance, citing Hyderabad as an example of his leadership.
Bharat assured that the AP government would fully support Musk’s investment plans and mentioned they would collaborate with industry leaders already in contact with Musk to persuade him to visit and explore opportunities in the state.
This proactive approach marks a departure from recent years in AP governance, showing a swift return to a proactive culture. If successful in attracting Musk and securing investments, it could showcase a distinct shift from the previous YCP government’s approach, potentially becoming a game changer for the alliance.
