After a quiet period of over two months, theaters in Telugu states are buzzing again with the release of three new movies. The most anticipated among them is “Gangs of Godavari,” starring Vishwak Sen. Directed by Krishna Chaitanya, the movie hit screens on May 31st.
With a star-studded cast and backing from the renowned production house Sithara Entertainment, “Gangs of Godavari” had a strong opening at the box office. It earned around Rs. 3-3.5 crore on the first day, covering 40% of its production costs. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the movie performed well over the weekend.
On Saturday, it collected around Rs. 1.5-1.6 crore, and on Sunday, it earned Rs. 1.9 crore. In total, “Gangs of Godavari” garnered around Rs. 6.6 crores during its first weekend, recovering 80% of its costs. With the other two releases performing below expectations, trade analysts predict that “Gangs of Godavari” will continue its steady run and break even at the box office soon.
