Andhra Pradesh’s new Home Minister, Anitha Vangalapudi, addressed a critical issue concerning the state police during her recent meeting with top police officials. She specifically issued a stern warning to officers who supported the YSR Congress Party (YCP) during their previous service.
Anitha highlighted that some officers acted under the influence of the YCP leadership, engaging in unlawful activities during the previous administration. She cautioned them about facing severe consequences under her tenure. The Home Minister urged any officials still loyal to Jagan Mohan Reddy to resign from their police positions.
“If you still have allegiance to Jagan, then step down from your police duties and join the YCP leadership. Under my watch, there is no place for political affiliations. Upholding law and order is our utmost priority,” Anitha stated.
During Jagan’s tenure, there were persistent complaints from TDP supporters about the misuse of police powers to harass TDP leaders. Allegedly, some officers took directions from YCP MLAs and leaders to target TDP cadres.
Anitha’s proactive stance on this issue aims to reassure TDP members and address their concerns moving forward.
