Neha Shetty, known for her positive attitude, talks about her role in “Gangs of Godavari” and her journey in the film world in a video chat with Gulte.
Describing her character Bujji, a woman from a 90s village on the Godavari coast, Neha says, “Bujji is lovely, graceful, and strong, yet vulnerable. She can be kind or tough, sending a message of ‘Don’t underestimate me.’ In a way, every woman can relate to Bujji.”
Recently, Neha reprised her role as Radhika from DJ Tillu in the sequel, Tillu Square. Though Radhika’s story isn’t highlighted much in these films, Neha says she doesn’t ponder over what happens to her character after Tillu Square. She focuses on understanding a character’s background only while on set, for her performance.
Having played village women in “Bedurulanka 2012” and now “Gangs of Godavari,” Neha expresses interest in portraying an urban character in her next project. Asked to choose between her songs “Suttamla Soosi” and “Sammohanuda,” she finds it hard but leans towards “Suttamla Soosi” for its soothing melody, while “Sammohanuda” is more upbeat and dance-oriented.
