Election campaigns in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have ended. In AP, both assembly and parliamentary voting are over, while in Telangana, only parliamentary elections have finished. But what about the stuff that the Election Commission took away in these states?
Across India, the EC seized Rs 8889 crores, with the most taken in Gujarat (Rs 1461 Cr).
It’s surprising that Andhra Pradesh, known as one of India’s wealthiest electoral states, had only Rs 301 crores seized. In comparison, Telangana had seizures worth Rs 333 crores.
Regarding election violence, Andhra Pradesh might be at the top, given the incidents on May 13th. The EC even stopped petrol stations in AP from filling petrol in bottles and plastic covers to prevent riots.
The seized items include money, alcohol, drugs, gold, and silver, all banned from election use.
