There’s been a lot of talk since yesterday about the possible delay of “Pushpa Part 2: The Rule.”
While there’s been no official word from the film’s makers, their silence on the matter seems to hint at some truth to the rumors.
Other filmmakers in different parts of the country are also shifting their release dates to August 15, which only adds to the speculation. Vikram’s “Thangalaan” is one such film struggling to find a release date, possibly aiming for August 15. Kollywood distributors were reportedly informed of this change overnight, with discussions ongoing with director Pa Ranjith. Akshay Kumar’s “Khel Khel Mein” is also eyeing the Independence Day release date.
Sources suggest that Sukumar, the director, recently informed his team that it’s not feasible to release the film on August 15. Various reasons contribute to this decision, including the need for reshoots, delays in Fahadh Faasil’s availability, slow progress, and dissatisfaction with the VFX work. Additionally, a change in editors further complicates matters. Even if shooting wraps up, adequate time for promotions is necessary.
With only sixty days left, completing everything on time seems nearly impossible, leading to the likelihood of a postponement. Despite Sukumar and Allu Arjun’s reluctance to miss the Independence Day release window, it appears they may have no other choice.
Any delay in the release of “Pushpa 2” could impact agreements with multiplex chains and theaters, both in the US and domestically.
One option could be moving Nani’s “Saripodhaa Sanivaram” to August 15 and rescheduling “Pushpa 2” for August 29. Alternatively, releasing in October is also being considered.
While it’s disappointing that “Pushpa” may lose its August 15 release date, there’s still hope. Two lyrical videos have already been released, and Devi Sri Prasad’s music is gaining popularity. The teaser featuring Bunny has raised expectations, sparking discussions nationwide. Mythri Movie Makers are inundated with pre-release business offers, indicating high anticipation for the film.
