Should We Be Concerned About the Rush of OTT Platforms?

User Newsinnews

There’s a big change happening in how movies are released lately. Because of the popularity of OTT platforms, producers are choosing to release their movies there much sooner after they come out in theaters, sometimes within just a week or two. This change is affecting how successful movies are in theaters.

Nowadays, it’s becoming less likely for a movie to be a hit in theaters because of the poor choices filmmakers are making creatively. If a movie doesn’t get good reviews, producers are quick to release it on OTT platforms, which means fewer people are going to theaters to see movies that aren’t getting much buzz.

For a movie to do well in theaters, it needs to be at least average and have good promotion. The songs, trailer, or teaser also need to get people excited.

If that’s not happening, more and more people are choosing to watch movies on OTT platforms instead of going to theaters.

Recently, we’ve seen movies like Family Star release on OTT just 20 days after coming out, while Krishnamma came out in just a week. Now, Gangs of Godavari will be on Netflix just 2 weeks after its release.

Producers like Dil Raju and Naga Vamsi are also jumping on the OTT trend to quickly make back their investments. If this keeps up, it’s possible that people might stop going to theaters altogether after hearing the feedback from the first show.
