The whole country is eagerly awaiting the election results. As exit polls make waves in the media, we’re now anticipating the Assembly results of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Counting has already started in both states.
These states held their polls on April 19, during the first phase of elections. Initially, the plan was to announce the results on June 4th along with the Parliament elections. However, since the terms of both Assemblies end today, the Election Commission decided to release the Assembly results first.
In Arunachal Pradesh, 50 out of 60 Assembly constituencies went to polls as 10 members were elected unopposed. BJP has a clear lead in these seats and is likely to form the government.
Meanwhile, in Sikkim, 32 Assembly constituencies saw elections, with a tight competition between two regional parties, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha and the Sikkim Democratic Front.
