Tom Brady, the ex-football player, said he feels sorry for how some of the jokes on Netflix’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time” made his kids feel. The show, led by comedian Kevin Hart and shown live on Netflix on May 5th, poked fun at Brady’s past divorce, looks, two retirements, “Deflategate” scandal, and his investment in FTX, along with other touchy subjects.

On an episode of “The Pivot Podcast” featuring Fred Taylor, Ryan Clark, and Channing Crowder, which came out on Tuesday, Brady shared that the jokes about his divorce didn’t sit right with his family. He mentioned, “I enjoyed the jokes when they were about me. They were entertaining. But I didn’t appreciate how it impacted my kids.

Throughout the night, Brady’s divorce with Bündchen was a big topic for jokes, often shown sipping his drink whenever it was mentioned. The ex-couple, who share two kids – Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11 – announced their split together in October 2022.

Brady admitted that he had a moment of realization during the roast. He said, “I had this moment where I realized the roast didn’t go as expected. It had a bittersweet feeling because it affected the people I care about the most in the world.” He also reflected, “It teaches you to be a better parent because sometimes you’re unaware of the impact certain things can have.

“This experience teaches me a valuable lesson as a parent, helping me to become better in the future because of it.”

Brady had an impressive 23-year career as the NFL’s top quarterback, securing seven Super Bowl rings – six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s also earned five Super Bowl MVP titles and three NFL MVP awards.

Initially retiring in February 2022, he reversed his decision, returning to play for one more season with the Bucs before officially retiring last year.

Towards the end of the roast, Brady got a chance to speak up for himself. Addressing why he agreed to participate, he stated, “It’s simple. I can handle the criticism. I would’ve done this earlier, but I’ve been too busy winning championships.”
