Lately, there’s been a surprising trend in Tollywood: producers are announcing big-budget movies, only to cancel them later.
This isn’t a one-time thing—it’s happened three times in a row now. Movie buffs are really curious about what’s going on in the Telugu film industry.
Take, for example, a movie starring a major hero. It was announced with a lot of fanfare, but then it was scrapped because the budget was reportedly over ₹70 crores, while the hero’s market value is around ₹35 crores for a successful film, including rights for non-theatrical and theatrical sales.
Similarly, another movie featuring a popular Tier-2 hero, who has no real competition in that league, was announced and then called off due to budget issues. The fact that a big producer backed out of the project raised a lot of questions. While other producers might take over, it’s still a sign that something’s up.
Some people think that these producers are announcing movies just to keep the OTT platforms interested with constant buzz. Once they’ve sorted out deals for their current projects, they’re dropping the ones they announced earlier without mercy.
It seems like many of these high-budget films are just bait to attract buyers for the theatrical rights of other movies they already have, and not much else.
